About

Greetings, I’m Rozalind!

I’m an audiovisual performer, certified life coach, recording artist, inspirational speaker, and music educator based in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador — dedicated to helping others connect, create, and come alive.

At the heart of everything I do is a deep love for what’s inspiring, empowering, and boldly creative.

Whether on stage, in the classroom, or through coaching and storytelling, I help people shine — with confidence, clarity, and heart.

Biography

Multi award-winning Di Zhao Flutes Artist, Rozalind MacPhail inspires and empowers through live music, film and storytelling. She explores new ways to combine image and sound in works that speak honestly of people, place and the human experience.

  • Rozalind MacPhail is a multi award-winning flutist, singer-songwriter, and audiovisual performer whose work blurs the boundaries between music, film, and storytelling.

A Di Zhao Flutes artist and visionary creator, she weaves lush, emotionally charged soundscapes and songs that both inspire and empower — inviting audiences into deeply human, multi-sensory experiences.

A classically trained flutist turned genre-bending composer and performer, MacPhail has become one of Canada’s most original and captivating voices in indie music and interdisciplinary art. Her performances combine live-looped flute, vocals, omnichord, and ambient electronics with cinematic projections — transforming the stage into a world of sound, light, and feeling.

Her genre-defying sound fuses folk, electronica, and classical influences — offering the intimacy of a singer-songwriter with the innovation of an electroacoustic composer. Each performance is an act of storytelling through sound: immersive, vulnerable, and resonant.

Based between the creative pulse of St. John’s and the wild beauty of Twillingate, Newfoundland and Labrador, MacPhail has performed internationally for over two decades and composed a rich catalogue of original music for film and stage. Her compositions have been celebrated for their cinematic scope and emotional depth, reflecting her fascination with people, place, and the power of memory.

MacPhail’s artistry has been recognized with recent nominations from ArtsNL (“Artist of the Year,” “Patron of the Arts”, and “Arts in Education”) and the East Coast Music Association’s “Electronic Recording of the Year” (2025), as well as MusicNL’s “Industry Professional of the Year” , and “Music Educator of the Year” (2025).

Her latest project, PUSH & PULL, is an indie folktronica album and film project co-produced with Brad Weber (Pick a Piper / Coy Haste / Caribou).

Developed during her artist residency at the Unscripted Digital Arts Festival in Twillingate, the project explores the tension between isolation and connection, weaving oral histories and personal transformation into a collection of songs and short films.

The debut single — a reimagined version of Jill Barber’s “In Perfect Time” — was released in November 2024 alongside a music video filmed in Twillingate.

The music and films from PUSH & PULL form the heart of MacPhail’s signature keynote concert series, INSPIRATION SOUP — a one-of-a-kind hybrid performance that blends live music, storytelling, and film.

Originally developed through Business & Arts NL’s Creative Edge program, INSPIRATION SOUP has been featured at MusicNL Week, CB Nuit, Twillingate Unscripted Digital Arts Festival, and Positive Thinkers NL, with plans to tour Canada, the U.S., Europe, and Scandinavia in 2026/27.

Whether performing in a concert hall, a gallery, or an intimate house concert, Rozalind MacPhail brings audiences into a world of beauty, honesty, and connection — reminding us that through sound and story, we find our shared humanity.
