LIVE SCORING FOR FILM
“Blending music and technology to express human creativity is the way of the future. Thanks for giving our students a view into what is possible!” – Julie Stewart (Music Teacher, Riverview East School, Canada)
Rozalind MacPhail offers engaging and inspiring interactive music technology workshops for musicians of all ages and backgrounds.
Participants explore the art of looping and live film scoring as they co-create original music to contemporary silent film. With the use of their instruments and digital audio workstation, Ableton Live, MacPhail helps participants unleash their creativity as they find their own unique voice in a fun, empowering and inspiring way.
During this workshop, MacPhail introduces her live looping setup and briefly describes her composing process as she performs some of her audio-visual works.
She then turns it over to the participants who collaborate with one another at their own comfort level and music ability, building layers of melody, texture and groove to create an original soundscape for contemporary silent film. This workshop encourages active listening, creative exploration, problem solving, self-confidence, collaboration, mindfulness and self awareness.
