The Flute View

Did it ever warm my heart to see these articles in The Flute View. Check out May’s issue to read the Gemeinhardt Musical Instruments “Flute Maker Spotlight”, an in-depth “Artist Interview” where I talk about looping, the music industry, what “effected flute” means to me and creative/musical inspirations. Also check out “15 Healthy Habits on the Road”. Lots of flute looping goodness in this month’s issue: http://thefluteview.com #flutegirl #Piccflute#GemeinhardtArtist #looping #effectedflute read more

Ableton Live Sample Flute Pack

Woke up to something super cool this morning. This is a dream come true for me! I collaborated with #Ableton Live Certified Trainer, AfroDJMac and he created a sound sample pack of my flute sounds for Ableton Live. There are lots of really cool sounds in this but you need Ableton 10 to use it. Check out the video and share the link with your Ableton friends. So neat! https://youtu.be/mjRBZo2t_1w read more

ECMA Nomination for SUNSET SUNRISE

Say what?!!! SUNSET SUNRISE got nominated for an East Coast Music Association (ECMA) award for Electronic Recording of the Year!!! Who would have thought that a recording we created with so much love for our dearly departed loved ones, Graham Howcroft and Ryan Parke would be celebrated like this. What a huge honour it is to be nominated for this award.  We took inspiration from the St. John’s sunrises/sunsets last February for the RPM Challenge. Much of the musical inspiration came from early Kraftwerk and the beautiful effected flute of Paul Horn.   Sending a great big hug and a deep bow of gratitude to my musical partners, Kim Henninger and

New Recording Project

It’s an exciting day for this flute looper, a moment I’ve been working towards for many months now. I begin the first of three new recording projects which will have me digging into completely new territory and collaborating with people I greatly admire. We’re combining: two of my favourite instruments (a gorgeous Gemeinhardt Musical Instruments effected alto flute and omnichord), my favourite poem (“The Invitation” by Canadian author, Oriah Mountain Dreamer), one seriously inspiring yoga instructor (Jenn King of Moksha Yoga Halifax) and one of our favourite practices, Yin Yoga. read more

SUNSET SUNRISE

It seems super fitting that I would watch this sunrise of Signal Hill as I began producing/composing/recording a new album as part of the RPM Challenge. What’s the RPM Challenge you ask? It’s a challenge to write and record an entire album of original music within the shortest month of the year. read more
