Every two years, one of my favourite music festivals, Sound Symposium takes over St. John’s and fills the streets (and harbour) with inspiring music! I was fortunate to perform my SUNRISE meditation piece to a beautiful sunrise at Atlantic Place and we were rained out for our special SUNSET performance on Signal Hill which we hope to reschedule. Here are some beautiful pictures of the SUNRISE performance, taken by Colette Phillips.
Thank you for this beautiful feature, Sound Symposium! So excited to perform to the sunset at Signal Hill and to the sunrise in Atlantic Place!!!! http://www.soundsymposium.com/ssxix-rozalind-macphail
It’s an exciting day for this flute looper, a moment I’ve been working towards for many months now. I begin the first of three new recording projects which will have me digging into completely new territory and collaborating with people I greatly admire. We’re combining: two of my favourite instruments (a gorgeous Gemeinhardt Musical Instruments effected alto flute and omnichord), my favourite poem (“The Invitation” by Canadian author, Oriah Mountain Dreamer), one seriously inspiring yoga instructor (Jenn King of Moksha Yoga Halifax) and one of our favourite practices, Yin Yoga.
Excited to be making my way to North Carolina as I play my many flutes in different airports, helping to spread the Christmas cheer! I’ll be performing, FROM THE RIVER TO THE OCEAN at First Night Raleigh on New Year’s. Can’t wait! @FNRaleigh
Home sweet home in St. John’s after driving 6400 km. From St. John’s to Fredericton to Saint John to Evandale to Sussex to Bathurst to Lameque Island to Cheticamp Island to Stephenville to Burgeo and the long drive home. 2 awesome mechanics for the flat tire and cranky muffler, so many beautiful sunsets, inspiring music, my lovely Acadian family, delicious food and so much more. To top it all off? Arriving at home to discover a MusicNL nomination for Instrumental Recording of the Year for SUNSET SUNRISE! It feels good to be home with this warm heart and so many wonderful memories. To all of you who I was so fortunate to spend time with on the road, THANK YOU. Sending a special thanks to Floodstock and Third Shift – Art Works After Dark in Saint John for such amazing performing experiences. I can’t wait to tour through New Brunswick again.
This is my first time attending the National Flute Convention and I’m totally blown away! Such amazing talent everywhere. Super informative workshops about everything flute and many inspiring concerts! It’s an honour to be performing at this year’s convention. Mark down Sat Aug 12 from 5:00 – 5:45pm for some “Flute and Film” with Viviana Guzman and myself sharing our original music and film! #NFAFlute2017
